The charge controller is then connected to the DC disconnect providing the circuit isolation. The current that passes to the DC disconnect is passed to the battery bank. This component is responsible for producing the DC voltage depending on the system type of your kit. The current from the bank will be passed back to DC disconnect then to the inverter or the charger where in the voltage will be transformed from DC to AC. The AC voltage will then be passed to your home’s main panel circuit.

Additional parts would be the battery monitor necessary for determining the current bank voltage, and the pole mount or roof mount where you will install the solar panel. Those are the basic components needed in a DIY Solar PV.

According to the Energy Information Administration, more homeowners are now considering the use of solar power to save money. In year 2007, about 28,000 DIY Solar Panels were installed in US alone. Apparently, the same trend is happening in other parts of the world.
